Crazy Okies in Sailboats
The first weekend of May was a stormy, windy time but a few hardy souls braved the choppy water on Lake Texoma to show off their pride and joy.

The first annual OK-TX-AR  Messabout took place the despite winds that kept sane boaters watching from the shore.  A group of boat builders and fans of home built wooden boats to admire and try out each other's masterpieces.   From small to large they were all there.  Participants came from as far away as Colorado and as close as across Lake Texoma to meet fellow boat builders.

Participants are all members of the on line email list called Bolger, named after a famous boat designer.  For more information and to join that mail list -  Click Here!
The group stayed at the Cedar Mills Resort on the Texas side of Lake Texoma.

While we won't comment much on the lodging, we were less than impressed and felt that those who camped came out better. The food at the Pelican's Landing Restaurant was excellent, as was the view.  The grounds were lovely and well maintained.  Plenty of room to show off these unique boats.

All and all a great time was had, even for those along just to fish.   Many got to test their sailing abilities and all got to show off their craftsmanship.    Plans were firmed up for next year's  Messabout.  All left, satisfied and sunburned, dreaming of what boat to build for next year's Messabout.
